Building a roof with WISA-Roof

User-friendly roofing with sustainable plywood

The tongued plywood panels are lightweight and easy to handle in roofing.

WISA-Roof is well-suited as a load-bearing sub-structure for bitumen and tin roofs. The non-slippery, unsanded spruce plywood has been treated using a water-soluble wood protecting agent, which provides the plywood with good protection during construction.

WISA-Roof has a tongue and groove along the long edges, which makes installation easier and makes the structure rigid.

Ideal for load-bearing sub-structures

The panels are suitable for Swedish construction, measure 2400 x 1200 mm, and are designed for bearing load on a span of 600 mm.

Easy installation with tongued and grooved edges

Install the first panel at the eaves of the roof in such a way that the tongue points towards the ridge of the roof. Paneling is always done in such a way that the long, tongued edge is always perpendicular to the supports.

Plan and piece together

To make work easier, it is good to plan the order of the panels beforehand. You can also begin with a sawed piece and use the other piece later. Please note that the un-tongued, square short edge is always to be place on a support.

Make sure that there are no intersections of four joints in the paneling.

Mind the gaps

Leave a gap of about 2 - 3 mm between panels at the joints between square edges for moisture movement. Do not leave any gaps between the long, tongued & grooved edges.

Attach and finish installation

Lightly fix the panels in place first, and finish attaching them at the end. Use 45 - 55 mm galvanized ring shank nails, screw-shank nails or self-tapping screws for fixing. The spacing of nails should generally be 100 - 150 mm along the edges of the panel and 200 - 300 mm at the centre of the panel.

Enjoy the non-slippery surface

Thanks to its surface treatment WISA-Roof offers good protection during construcion. Any parts that remain visible should be further treated using a suitable paint.
